Beth Horon

On the road to Jerusalem from the Mediterranean coast was Beth-Horon, the town of ancient Israel where kings Solomon and Hiram stored gold Phoenician fleets brought back with them on their voyages from Ophir.
King Hiram's fleet, it is believed, took three full years to complete the round-trip voyage from the Mediterranean to the land of Ophir and back. Historical study suggests that ships since early times set sail to Ophir from the port of Ezion-Geber on the Red Sea, in search of gold, and precious stones, and sandalwood. When ships returned, the town of Beth-Horon served to channel transport of Ophir gold to Syria, to Babylonia, and to Asia Minor.
